The Warehouse Climbing Centre has announced that its redevelopment plans for the future are nearing completion, and the project promises to be even more exciting than originally proposed.

After considering a range of options, the aim is to create a new site that is much more than just a climbing centre, and one which will become a key tourist attraction and vibrant community facility for families, groups, clubs and educational establishments seeking safe, fun, adventure.

The designs being prepared for planning include a variety of high quality, innovative activities; including one of the largest indoor climbing centres in the UK with an outdoor climbing wall, a bouldering zone, artificial caving system, zip lines, a multi-activity tower, plus high and low-level ropes courses.  This blend, combining both indoor and outdoor elements, will be a first for the UK and make the venue a great year-round destination for climbers, and a memorable day out for friends and family.

Although several sites were looked at across the Midlands and the South West, the Owners were keen to remain in Gloucestershire and have been working closely with Gloucester City Council to find a suitable location that fulfils the requirements for the new facility.  The project is being managed by specialist adventure activity consultants VentureActive, whose Directors, Robert and David Stevens, also own part of The Warehouse.  David comments “After twelve months in development, we’re delighted to be able to go public with our future plans. We see the venue being a landmark attraction for Gloucestershire and hope to be able to announce further details including the location over the next few weeks – so watch this space!”

David continues “The new centre will be a huge benefit to the community and local area – new jobs will be created, our existing members will be able to climb and cave in one of the biggest and best venues in the country, and with the addition of outdoor space and the new activities we’ll also be able to help fuel the increased enthusiasm for adventure experiences that are now so popular”.
