Dick Whittington comes to Gloucester

westgateMark Cummings of BBC radio Gloucester re created the famous walk from Pauntley Gloucestershire to London. On Saturday 28th May 2005, he arrived in Gloucester with his cat, Kat Brown also of BBC radio Gloucester to open the grand medieval Fayre in Westgate Street Gloucester. The Westgate Association re-launched in 2005 with the aim of increasing trade in the street and reinvesting money’s raised back into the street to create a greater shopping environment.

cathsA Medieval Fayre on the 28th May 2005 was held with a huge amount of activities for people young and old, this event coincided with the BBC radio Gloucestershire Dick Whittington Walk from Gloucester to London.

A wonderful day was had by all. Dick Whittington was led on a march around Gloucester, with the Sheriff of Gloucester and a band of musicians and followers, all dressed in mediaeval style
