Capriol Chamber Orchestra Summer Concert

Tickets are available in advance £10/£8 (concessions) from orchestra members or the Tourist Information Office in the Subscription Rooms, or £11/£9 on the door. CHILDREN UNDER 16 FREE 

This concert will open with Rossini’s overture ‘The Italian Girl in Algiers’.  After Fauré’s beautiful ‘Pavane’ the woodwind will provide a contrast with ‘More Old Wine in New Bottles’ by Gordon Jacob.  We welcome Lydia Kenny, the 2018 Gloucestershire Young Musician of the Year to play Debussy’sRhapsodie for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra.  After the interval, during which there will be refreshments, the orchestra will play Symphony No 104 ‘London’ by Haydn

Lydia Kenny was Gloucestershire Young Musician of the Year 2018, winning both the Hewitt-Jones trophy and the Carducci audience prize. She studies the saxophone with Lara James, having previously studied at Gloucestershire Academy of Music under Wes Duggan. Lydia is preparing for her Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music having obtained DipABRSM Distinction on saxophone in 2017.

The Capriol Chamber Orchestra is based in Stroud, conducted by Jonathan Trim and led by  Steve McDade.
