Well, of course the site is about Gloucestershire. I’m sure that much is obvious, but lets make a couple of things clear. The site is nothing to do with any of our local councils, bodies or quangos, although we do publish events and press releases on our boards for them.
It is not a “commercial” site, although we do accept a small amount of advertising to cover the costs of running it. Visit Gloucestershire was created, and is maintained by Eddie Eldridge because Gloucestershire is my passion.
The site was originally just about the city of Gloucester, but over the years it has expanded to cover the whole county. Apart from the static pages here you will find a local directory of web sites, and our community bulletin boards.
The Gloucestershire Directory is nothing but local web sites categorised by towns. It is completely free, so no fees are paid for a listing.
Our boards are also free to join and anyone is welcome to post local events there, again completely free of charge.
As you can see from our bulletin boards I am very keen on promoting local business. I am also very proud to be involved with the Four Gates of Gloucester project. Four Gates’ is a voluntary, not for profit Social Enterprise company, which seeks to improve the communication and information around our City for residents and visitors alike. Whether to plan your visit or to just get the most out of all our City has to offer, the difference in what we do is its free for everybody, users and businesses
