Staff at St James City Farm welcomed a new arrival – a beautiful ‘Dexter’ calf.

Both mother Clover and calf named ‘Treddy’ (after Tredworth) are healthy.

Farm Manager Richard Leach said: The baby was slightly overdue and we had cctv focussed on her overnight, but our volunteer Sharon arrived early one morning and the baby was there. She’s a beauty and members of the public are welcome to come and have a quick peek”.

The Dexter cow is one of the smallest breeds of cows, making it very suitable for the city farm environment with limited space to keep them. The City Farm is part of the Friendship Café, a registered charity running different activities for families and children in Gloucester.

The city farm is open daily to the public between 9.30-4pm and run mainly through young volunteers and donations.
