A man has been arrested following a number of violent incidents in Gloucester during the early hours of this morning.
Police were called shortly before 3am to a report that a man had attempted to force his way into two properties in Garnell Road.
He initially gained access to one address, where he threatened one of the occupants before assaulting another, and demanding they hand over money.
The suspect then attempted to use a pole to break into a neighbouring house.
Earlier in the evening, at around 1am, police were stopped by a woman in distress. She told officers that a man in a balaclava had robbed her and a friend after they had drawn money out at an ATM on Painswick Road.
Officers now believe the incidents are linked and that the suspect had also been trying door handles in the Matson, Abbeymead and Abbeydale areas.
Detectives would now like to speak to anyone who has ring doorbell footage of a bare-chested man, who may have attempted to enter properties between 1am and 5am.
They are also asking anyone who has posted any images to social media sites to forward them on to police, and are urging anyone who has not done so already to check their doorbell footage.

A 38-year-old man from Gloucester was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and assault. He remains in police custody at this time while enquiries continue.
