Dobbies has announced its plan to shut down 17 of its sites across including Gloucester and Cheltenham.
The proposed closures are part of a restructuring plan to help return the business to profit and reduce its rent bill.
Sites will continue to operate as normal until the plans are given the green light.
Of these roles being cut, 82 are full-time staff positions out of Dobbies’ 3,600-strong workforce.
In its announcement, Dobbies said: “The restructuring programe and other strategic initiatives, are expected to return Dobbies to sustainable profitability through site rationalisations, rent reductions and other tangible cost savings – securing its long-term future and allowing access to future investment.
Last July, the retailer brought on the former Pets at Home boss David Robinson as the new chief executive. He replaced former boss Graeme Jenkins who left after seven years to ”pursue other opportunities”.
