The Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire is the representative of the Queen within the ceremonial county of Gloucestershire: this includes modern Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire.
The Lord-Lieutenant is assisted by a Vice Lord-Lieutenant and a number of Deputies.
Major aspects of the Lord-Lieutenant’s role relate to:
- Organising royal visits to the county
- Being involved in the Honours’ system and in particular presenting Queens Awards for Enterprise, Queens Awards for Voluntary Service and British Empire Medals
- Supporting military organisations and the armed forces within the county
- Encouraging those involved in civil society including volunteers
