LEGLAG

LEGLAG is a community group formed in 1993 to safeguard one area to the south of Cheltenham, bringing local people together, working to protect the rural character of Leckhampton. This area is bounded by the Cotswolds Escarpment to the east and the village of Shurdington to the south. Leckhampton has been safeguarded for generations, the village predates Cheltenham, providing valuable farming land and recreation green space needed by the town. Our view and evidence has been tested in recent times with four inspectors turning down large scale development for many important sustainability issues. We welcome new ideas and members, please go to membership to find out more.
We promote the use of this land for local food production, recreation and use of the many footpaths criss crossing the area of mixed woodland, fields and beautiful meadows.
We work towards the longterm conservation of a wide diversity of wildlife and habitat including the many ancient hedgerows, trees and woodland, small mammals, birds and a rich variety of wildflowers and insects
