The countdown to Christmas has begun as details for a ‘bigger and brighter’ light switch-on events in Gloucestershire have been revealed.
Gloucester
Gloucester City Centre – Saturday 16th November
Gloucester’s annual lantern procession will parade through the city’s gate streets. This year’s theme is ‘Enchanted Winter Forest’.
The parade will begin at Gloucester Cathedral at 4:45pm and finish at the Tree of Light in Kings Square at 5:15pm.
Each set of Christmas lights will switch on as the parade passes underneath them.
Forest of Dean
Coleford Christmas Lights Switch On – Saturday 30th November
Coleford will celebrate the festivities with an afternoon of fun featuring stalls selling local produce, funfair and live music in the town centre.
The lights will be officially switched on at 5:30pm.
Newent Christmas Lights Switch On – Saturday 30th November
Newent will host its annual festive market from 1pm onwards. There will be plenty of activities for the kids including funfair rides.
Santa can be seen in the parade which will start at 4pm followed by the big switch on.
Lydney Christmas Parade – Saturday 30th November
Lyndey will celebrate Christmas with a parade through the town centre at 5:25pm. The parade will begin at Ham Road and finish at the Town Hall.
The Christmas Tree lights will be switched on by Father Christmas.
Cheltenham
Cheltenham Town Centre Christmas Lights Switch On – Saturday 23rd November
The streets of Cheltenham including the Promenade will place host to various characters and live music starting at 3:30pm.
There will be no official switch on – the town’s Christmas lights will turn on automatically when it gets dark.
Bishops Cleeve Christmas Lights Switch On – Saturday 23rd November
There will be a chance to meet Father Christmas and Disney favourites including Elsa and Olaf from Frozen.
The open-air market will be offering last minute gifts and local produce as well as tasty treats from local food vendors.
The Christmas Lights will be switched on at 5:30pm.
Tewkesbury
Tewkesbury Christmas Lights Switch On – Sunday 24th November
There will be plenty on offer with over 100 Christmas market stalls opening from midday.
Fairground rides and entertainment on a performance stage will also be offer with the Christmas Lights being switched on at 5pm.
