Cotswold Neighbourhood Policing Team secure closure orders for two properties in Cirencester

Two properties in Cirencester have been issued with closure orders following multiple reports of anti-social behaviour associated with the addresses.

The Cotswold Neighbourhood Policing Team issued the orders for the properties, which are in the Watermoor area of the town, to help safeguard vulnerable people living in and near the address and to minimise distress caused to the wider community.

The team worked with the community and housing associations to collate the evidence needed to apply for the closure orders, which were subsequently granted at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 23 June.

The closure orders prevent anyone except certain named individuals and agencies to be inside or on the property.

Failure to comply with the order is a criminal offence which could result in imprisonment for up to three months, a fine, or both.

The orders will be in effect until Tuesday 22 September 2026 and officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team will make continued checks on the property until then to ensure the closure order is being adhered to.

Inspector Philippa Moore from the Cotswold Neighbourhood Policing team said: “The anti-social behaviour associated with these addresses in Cirencester has blighted the local community.

“It has also been a huge drain on police resources as our officers have had to respond to countless incidents at the properties.

“We have followed up on the reports of anti-social behaviour and taken positive action in securing Closure Orders on both properties. I hope this will target offenders in our community and make residents feel safer.”

Anti-social behaviour is any behaviour that causes, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm, distress, nuisance or annoyance to others. It can take many forms and is often linked to criminal offences.
