A new litter bin has been installed on Lower Tuffley Lane, opposite the McDonald’s restaurant on Bristol Road in Gloucester.

The bin is being sponsored by local McDonald’s franchisee Paul Toner as part of wider work to reduce litter in the area.

The unveiling was attended by local councillors, campaign group Litter Free Stroud and McDonald’s representatives.

McDonald’s says regular litter picks by restaurant teams are also taking place across Gloucestershire.

An audit by Litter Free Stroud found the proportion of McDonald’s packaging in nearby litter had fallen from 36 per cent to 18 per cent.

Paul Toner said the sponsorship was part of the restaurant’s commitment to being a good neighbour.
