Cheltenham Festival have confirmed they are freezing ticket prices and offering discounts for next years race meeting.

The four-day event in March saw its lowest attendance across the week in at least a decade.

Organisers have also announced changes to some races during the festival which they hope will increase interest.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “We are generally supportive of Cheltenham’s moves. These changes should make the Festival’s racing more competitive on the whole and therefore better as a betting product for our customers.

“It also looks like the alterations will give top class novice chasers fewer opportunities to avoid each other, which should lead to some mouth-watering clashes to look forward to in the Arkle and Brown Advisory.

“One horse relevant to these changes who may already have his campaign mapped out for him is Ballyburn. We took a notable bet on him for the Arkle last week, and he’s now a 7/4 chance from 5/2 for the first novice chase of the Festival.”
