Beijing comes to Gloucester
On 6th August 2001, the Chinese community, treated the citizens of Gloucester to a wonderful display of Chinese Culture. The event was opened by our Lady Mayoress to loud applause. The day was organised by the Gloucestershire Chinese Women's Guild.

Chinese in Gloucestershire
A few Chinese families were running Chinese laundries in Gloucester as early as 1914 which remained unchanged until 1959. Throughout the 1960s, there was an explosion of Chinese restaurants and take aways, and it is now hard to imagine life without Chinese food. The author can confirm that his grandfather talked about Chinese laundries in Gloucester.
