Officers in Gloucester are appealing for information from the public about a distraction burglary which took place at an address on Barton Street earlier this month.
Between 6.30pm and 7pm on Sunday 10 June, a resident answered the front door of their property to find a man who was claiming to be an ex-army officer selling bottles of wine.
The man was invited inside and was momentarily left alone after asking for a carrier bag; he used this time to steal the victim’s handbag and its contents before leaving.
The offender is described as a white man of around 5ft 9 inches who had spikey blonde hair and a tattoo on the left side of his neck which said “Kayleigh” as well as tribal tattoos on both of his arms.
He was wearing a black top, camouflage jacket and brand new green Nike trainers.
Officers are asking for anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have had a similar encounter to call 101 with incident 483 of 10 June.
