Police in Gloucester are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was injured during an attempted burglary in Barnwood yesterday.

Officers were called to Hammond Way at 5.20am after it was reported that a homeowner had disturbed an unknown man who was trying to enter a shed within his back garden.

The homeowner suffered superficial wounds after confronting the offender who is believed to have been in possession of a Stanley knife.

Officers responded along with the support of a police dog however attempts to locate the offender were unsuccessful.

The offender is described as being a young white man who was around 5ft 8 and was wearing a dark jacket, potentially leather material.

CCTV enquiries show that he left on a bike and rode in the direction of Hucclecote Road.

The victim did not require medical treatment at the time.
