A 39-year-old man from Gloucester has been arrested in connection with the theft of a vehicle in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called at 2.30am to a report that a car had been stolen after the keys had been taken from a property in Southgate Street.

Officers followed the vehicle after it was picked up on a city centre ANPR camera.

A man was then arrested on suspicion of theft, driving whilst disqualified, driving with no insurance and for being on licence from prison. He remains in custody at this time.

The car had no damage and has been returned to the owner.
