Arrested at Barton Meeting

30 posts in this topic

I think that it was the AGM of the Barton & Tredworth Neighbourhood Partnership. I think that it was for the "theft" of a piece of paper containing financial details that should have been available for anyone to read, but were being denied to attendees till after the meeting. The BTNP AGM, might also have been inquorate, as it was last year, but I don't suppose that they'll let that bother them.

It looks like TIG have banned him again. At least I havent seen him posting there in the last few days, and I'm certan he would have if he could.

Can't they ban his IP address? Or do they change every few days unless you have a special static one?

It is amazing what you reveal when you surf. Your IP, browser, operating system are all there for admins to see. With a bit of cooky useage even more can be seen such as where you caame from and where you go to when you leave the site and lots more. It is possible to spoof ips, but the average chap probably wont know how to do that. With TIG I think the problem is resources. They simply dont have anyone monitoring the site in real time and they rely on people reporting problems.

Personally, I hope that he sues the police. That court case should be a laugh - how are they going to explain why they arrested and beat up a local resident for attending a meeting and insisting on seeing financial details that he was legally entitled to see? Is it now the police's job to protect so-called officers (not even lawfully elected) of an organisation from financial scrutiny by a member of said organisation? Remember, he was absolutely right about the mismanagement at Barton & Tredworth Community Trust, when the Charity Commission were doing nothing about it, and now the Trust is in the manure.

Hi

Actually, I hope he allows it to go to court.

That way the 'elected' members of the association would have to give evidence under oath, and he could question them about their role in the Trust Centre too.

Be interesting who ends up in prison after that one..........

There are a lot of dodgy things going on there, I agree, but I have no sympathy with Joe at all. He is his own worst enemy. Take a look at his blog and I can guarrantee you will find multiple insults and rants against me. He has been banned from every community he has joined on the net from these boards, tig, gloucester fm and the BBC. It is unbelievable that he was in the right on every occasion and everyone else is just out to get him.

Even after all the rotten things he has said about me ( including an insinuation that I might have hacked his facebook page ) I emailed him and offered to include Barton street, not only on line, but in a printed magazine. He just used this as an excuse to pump me for information. Naturally Barton Street wasnt important enough for him to actually do something rather than rant about how terrible everyone else is. I see this morning that his video has also been removed from youtube.

I wonder why the video has been removed from YouTube. They seem happy to host pornography, but not a video recorded at a public meeting, it seems.

No surprise there. I'm with Eddie on this, it really was only a matter of time.

I would say though, that I don't think an IP address was needed to follow Joe's posts on TiG. They stood out a mile.

Hi

The greatest danger is that Joe is is own biggest enemy as you say, and in that people ignore the points he raises. We need to listen to what he says, but ignore the manner he says it.

I would champion the causes he raises, but I'm nowhere near the man I was 10 years ago. JK needs to brief someone else with the enrgy he has, but with better communication skils, then bow out.

I would really like to take up his banner so he can 'retire from the field', but I'm nowhere near well enough to stand for council, let alone resolve the major local issues unsupported.

I keep in touch with Joe regularly, and support many of his views. I wish things were different, but am frustrated - unable to resolve anything.

Thanks

Joe certainly doesn't help himself with some of the nasty things he says about Eddie and others but it is a very dark day for accountability if organisations can block attempts to be held to account and even have their critics arrested. I didn't see the video and don't know much about what happened but I'd like to know.

I don't care about that. Virtually no one looks at it in any case, and I shall not be looking.

"But if you're willing to play the game, it will be coming around again." (Apologies to Carly Simon).

Yes, the Barton & Tredworth Neighbourhood Partnership AGM re-run has been scheduled for May 30th. Apparently, the last one wasn't quorate - not that that bothered them much last year.

Hi

That's if the AGM actually happens. other meetings have been rescheduled recently.

I've asked for copies of the Financial Statements as a local resident - be nice to see them. Haven't seen anything for years. (Not that I've seen many meetings advertised locally, either).

Seems round here Democracy is only for the Chosen Few, ordinary residents need not apply. (Same as the old BCTC building).

With only a couple of exceptions recently, Joe's the only person who's even bothered to let me know that meetings are even held.

My Email hasn't changed since I first registered with the Street Care group. the local Police Committe group, the Street Fair group et al.

I know the people involved try hard, but the system's not working.

Sorry for the rant

Paul H

Apparently, the meeting is going to be an EGM (extraordinary general meeting) rather than an AGM, as they are claiming that the AGM was quorate after all. The problem is that people put names on the register, but they're not necessarily members, i.e. if they don't live or work in the ward.

The meeting is going to be held on Wednesday 30th May at 6.30pm in Barton Community Centre. It hasn't been advertised in The Citizen, so I expect that they don't really want people to come unless they are invited. Tough! I'm going to turn up anyway. I shop in the Barton & Tredworth ward and drive through it most days. I'm going to raise the issue of illegal parking, which has never been sorted out, despite all of the millions of words written about the issue in The Citizen over the years. There is simply no enforcement in the ward.

Hi

Someone said today that the meeting was advertised in Citizen, but only recently.

Only two items on agenda:

1) Election of Officers

2) Agreeing change of Constitution into a more workable one.

No other business is to be discussed - sorry Kay.

Oh, I'm up for election th the CoOrdinating Group.

Thanks

Paul H
