About Gloucester

Gloucester has changed a lot over the authors lifetime. The city centre is now pedestrianised, we have the new shopping centre at Gloucester Quays, and the old market in Eastgate Street is now a shopping arcade. Kings Square has gone through many changes and the latest news is that more shops are about to be built there, and we will loose our only square.

Gloucester is still a treasure trove of old buildings including Blackfriars , The New Inn and of course Gloucester Cathedral

The docks are now a mixture of leisure and flats, and although many of the old warehouses still stand they are now used as offices and flats. Trade up the canall is now a thing of the past.
