Gloucester Cattle Market
Gloucester has been a cattle town for many years. The author remembers the original cattle pens that were on the site of what is now the bus station, just off Kings Square. Now it is on the ring road, running on to Westgate street at one end and Worcester St at the other. Going back 40 years, small boys earned pocket money driving the cattle up Westgate Street to the market.
The visitor can no longer see livestock being sold here. A large Tesco Supermarket is also on the site. The whole site has been redeveloped . There is also the largest B & Q store in the country.
