TEWKESBURY’S Christmas lights switch on will be taking place on November 27 this year in a spectacular event which will see the high street closed to traffic.
Cars will be prevented from driving up the High Street from lunchtime during which time the street will be transformed into a vibrant and buzzing market place with a traditional farmers’ market offering fresh and locally sourced produce.
Residents and visitors can also enjoy a vast array of stalls selling unique Christmas gifts and presents, plus lots of independent retailers will be open too.
For the youngest members of the family there is the thrill of Edward Danter’s fairground rides to keep them entertained, and the ever popular snow machine will be sited outside the town hall to make the visiting Father Christmas feel right at home.
Festive music is being provided by the junior members of Tewkesbury’s Town Band.
Free parking will be available in council run car parks, while the traditional lights switch on ceremony is set to take place from about 4.30pm with Father Christmas.
