On fridays I and a friend try to lunch at different Gloucestershire pubs. Today we went to the farmers boy. It is a delightful country pub with a little shop attached.
The menu looked amazing, and it included their famous pies, Duck with strawberry pepper and mint sauce as well as fish steaks etc.
Most of it looked a little much for the middle of the day, so we both opted for BLTs ( Bacon lettuce and tomato. Mine came covered in melted Cheddar cheese and Nigel had Brie with his. Both were loaded with sweet bacon and chips with a beautiful salad came with it.
The service was superb, and we have both vowed to go again in the evening with our wives.
Highly recommended.

The Human eye is a wonderful device. With a little effort, it can fail to see even the most glaring injustice.

On Sunday I took Vanda there for Sunday lunch. We both had roast beef, yorkshire pudding, roast and boiled potatoes with carrots and brockley. That was followed by blackberry and apple crumble with custard and coffee.
The food was marvelous. I couldnt fault it. The only thing that spoiled it was a large family group that had a very young toddler with them, who alternated between crying, whinging and then making ga ga noises. A shame really.

I agree with Ed, lovely food and surroundings but the toddler spoiled the meal for me.

Nice when you find a good pub/food.
I went out in Bridlington with a family to enjoy a nice meal. Their kids were a disgrace and totally spoilt it for me and I guess everyone around. At the end of the meal the father turned to me and every so complimentary said how much he enjoyed my family and if his children turned out like mine he would be delighted. - I almost choked! [Thinks] Maybe your kids could do with a dose of the Doughnut discipline!
