Can't seem to get the Chat feature to work.

I forgot to enable it, but does anyone want it ?

To be honest, I'd forgotten it was there.
If it doesn't slow everything else down, or take too many resources, then I'd say enable it.
Perhaps, with a little "advertising" it could become a bigger part of the site?
Maybe a scrolling banner across the top of the page, hot-linked even?
May well become the place for all these "political discussions" to be held, rather than cluttering up the main forums?

Those of you who log in and out may have noticed that guests no longer have the ability to even look at the boards. This is due to a campaign of Harassment by an ex member - Jo K or Joker. Although banned 3 times he keeps coming back to look and then post hate comments on his blog

Well, I can't say I'm sorry he's been blocked.
Maybe someone should post the details of his blog so we can recipricate?
It's a shame though, it may well put off potential members if they have to join the site rather than being able to "pop in" and have a look around before joining.
If the individual concerned has a "static" IP, couldn't you just lock out that?
Now I think I'd better go lie down for a bit, that's the second idea I've had this morning and I feel a bit faint!

I agree Tony, but this has taken up huge amounts of my time that I can ill afford. I dont care about the personal insults, but he has put other peoples names up and told the world that this site has links to porn and anal sex. That is totally out of order. I'll think again about forcing people to log in later, but this does keep the horrid man away.

Will the sign in process upset the search engines? I've come across threads to these forums many times while doing a search.

On another subject, I see the Old Gloucester site now has a Google Star. Yippee!!!!

No, you dont need to worry about that. Look at the current users and you will see google and all the other bots

Take it easy - I've deleted most of it, just hadn't got round to that final bit and the post has gone into 'older posts' now. You only asked me yesterday, or the day before, and contrary to what people think, I do work for a living ;-)

Personally, I don't have major issues with him, I don't agree with a lot of what he says, but then if I got that picky about what people said about me, then I would be pretty lonely.

I do think its overkill to stop guests reading the boards, I think you will see even less interaction than what we get now if people can not just browse from outside. I doub't many people read Joes blog anyway.

I'll restore the standard view as soon as possible, but you have no idea of how obsessive he is. You havn't been accused publicly of having links to anal porn on your site.

Eddie it is a real pity that people spoil just about anything. I really appreciate a BB that is not taken up with bad language and a lot of other rubbish. Some might call it censorship, I don't, I think it's great. Sorry that it has taken up so much of your time but keep it up.

It probably isn't a root that you want to go down, and no doubt could not afford but whether it is printed or on the internet it's libel. Maybe it's time for a solicitors letter???

Not much point in legal action doughnut, I work and he doesn't. That means I get all the bills, but thank you for your support.

A big thank you to all of you who have emailed and pmd me. I do apreciate it, but please dont send any more. In future he will just be ignored. I have emailed Barry about his latest paranoia. No doubt some poor councillor in Westgate is now getting emails from him, and as he has already said that damage to my business is no concern of his, I can imaging the content.

I will re open to guests this morning.
