House hunting in Abbeydale we discovered the Ridge and Furrow at Morrisons roundabout Abbeywood. They do a range of fresh cooked meals for £3. before 7 pm. and they really are fresh and tasty. We tried the Sunday Carvery £6.95.(fabulous), just give it a try once. Possibly the best thing about this pub is the dinng room, lght, airy and all tables laid out withg glasses, cutlery, napkins and best of all SPOTLESS.sch a rare thing these days. (end of sermon) regards j. d. p.s. still havent found a house.

Thanks for this, I have wondered if it was any good, does tend to have a slightly chavvy crowd outside which has put me off ever going in! Maybe I will venture in now, good to know it's clean and tidy.

Know what you mean, plus the entrance is a bit grotty. Can only say that for "Eaters" this gaff is a little Jewel. regards j.d.

The Ridge also puts on some good Live music nights.

The bar area suffers from a lack of atmosphere a little bit, due to the design of it, the main seating area id down in a dip which makes the ceiling quite high.
You can get a decent meal there at a reasonable price; and they are very accomodating. I use to work with some young men and women who are wheel chair users; and the Ridge was always welcoming and very helpful for the guys and girls.

I don't go in there much, but I have never been in the Turmot Hoer; and I live equidistant to the both. I've heard very mixed reports about the Turmot; depending on whether you are friends with the Landlady there, so I stick with the Ridge.

The Ridge and Furrow only scores two stars in the "scores on the doors" scheme. That's not very good.

Hi. Kay and Mr Poetry. " The proof of the pudding is in the eating" Just give it a try.

I now find the "Friar Tucks" on the main road Quedgeley doing 2 meals for the price of 1 from 5pm. to 730pm. great value. Fish good steaks, lasagne ect for under £10. well cooked and good quality. Plus Fosters Lager £2.55 as opposed to the Linden Tree Bristol Rd. £3.05p for the same drink

I think because of the non smoking in Pubs these days the outside view of a Pub can be a bit off putting with all the lads standing around.

I`ve got some vouchers somewhere for the Hungry Horse, forgot we had one nearby, shame it`s up that hill!

The Ridge is a bit far to go Jack, I`d get to the top of Charlton Kings hill than I would Abbeydale :icon_biggrin:

One thing put us right off our meal at the Hungry Horse at Severn Springs and that was looking out the window and seeing RATS climbing up the garden tables and knocking leftover food onto the ground and then scurrying down to fight over it, as the light was beginning to fade.

Never been there for a meal since !

However, I can recommend the Fleet Inn at Twyning, just the other side of Tewkesbury, which is by the river and you can sit out on a sunny day and have your meal at a table on their large patio.

Also a pub on the Twyning village green serves good food too. just go past that towards the river to get to the Fleet Inn.
