Parking wardens have been brought in to prevent illegal parking outside seven schools in Gloucester.
The project run by the city council and the police aims to improve safety and prevent accidents near the schools.
Council leader, Paul James (Con), said: "We're not there looking to issue fines, it's to make sure people stick to the rules."
The wardens will carry out patrols twice a day and the police will be called in to deal with obstructions.
Parent support adviser at Linden Primary School, Louise Jones, said: "They're always parking outside, on the double yellow lines, the zig zag lines, and actually on pavements as well.
"We need to get the parents on board, but seeing someone in uniform there is going to act as a deterrent to them."
