I've always been told that its a small world, and getting smaller. Last week I was attending a conference in town and was at the opening dinner with several colleagues. We were joined at our table by some people from Toronto and through introduction got names and places of work, not being at the table for the introductions (off getting drinks) my co-workers said that I was born in England. Returning to the table I introduced myself and Anthony opened his mouth and said I understand you were born in England, where abouts...same place as you me old chum.....GLOUCESTER!!! Anthony's gloucester acsent gave him away.
This is where it got really, hair raising...It turns out Anthony's mom was born and raised in Longford just like me.... infact she and I grew-up together. The rest of the evening turned into us chatting about people and places that we both knew. I've met a fair number of Ex-pats over the years but after almost 40 years living in Canada to met the son of a childhood friend.....It is a small world

Fantastic. It certainly is a small world. Do tell them about this site :icon_biggrin:

It is pretty amazing when things like that happen. We had one of those moments when we went on holiday to Malta a few years ago. Turned out that one couple who were on the same holiday, lived just across the River from us. We stayed in touch for a few years, but gradually drifted off ... as you do!
