On Tuesday 7th February at 1pm, Henry VIII will be in our City announcing a special Tudor proclamation, on the 60th Anniversary of our current Queen Elizabeth II’s reign (her reign began on 6th February 1952).

The Westgate Association, and Gloucester, will be beginning the positive year of Diamond Celebrations on the start date of the Queen’s 60th year.

Gloucester has a unique with Sovereign’s through the ages, and this announcement will be starting at Forty Six Westgate Street, just around the corner from where filming is currently taking place for Shakespere’s Henry IV and V.

Gloucester’s Town Crier Alan Myatt will be in character and proclaiming in all 4 Gate Streets. A ceremonial English red rose will be presented to Henry VIII by BowBells at 46 Westgate Street.

The Sheriff of Gloucester, Councillor Pam Tracey, will also in attendance.

Photographers are welcome. Further details can be obtained from Ivan Taylor on 07836 777267 or via email at info@fourgatesofgloucester.co.uk

The Human eye is a wonderful device. With a little effort, it can fail to see even the most glaring injustice.
