Thank you for the suggestions re the emails I had from my mother. Info passed on and actioned, so I'll be watching my inbox to see if it has worked

Another issue you may have some ideas on - One of the people who regularly emails me, finds it almost impossible to email on one of the accounts I use and I only realise he has done so if it has been sent to several people and they reply to all. I've checked the address he uses and it's correct. I copied direct from his email and sent it to myself and it worked. So why didn't it work direct from his account to mine.

Apparently my DH has the same problem with another person.

Some anti virus software seems to take a dislike to anyone not in your address book

Nope, this person is on my list and comes up as a selection when I start to put the address in.

I have a similar problem. Just one person in my address book can email me, but not vice versa. However, I can email her if I am replying to one of her emails. She has an alternative email address that she doesn't use as much, and that one is happy to accept my emails. The odd thing is that undelivered emails don't bounce back to me, so where do they go?

That could be a multitude of causes Stuart. Are you running a current anti-virus package and what operating system?

@ Stuart:

Check these:
1. Overheating(Open the case and check to see how much dust has collected inside it, and if there is a lot of dust get a can of compressed air and blow the dust out and clean out all dust bunnies, etc. on the heatsink/;fan combo, etc.; and be sure all the fans are spinning and properly functioning )

2. Poor power supply (weak power supply or noisey / dirty electricity)

3. Bad driver or drivers not updated, as already mentioned by bonk, or a device conflict. Pull the connectors and push them back on. Reseat all of the cards.

4. Not enough memory or bad Ram, as already mentioned by bonk . Missmatched ram or a bad stick of ram will cause this also. FREE RAM Diagnostic Tool. - CST Inc.s DOS based DocMemory = http://bucarotechelp...ers/default.asp .
You might need to add more Ram.

5. Could be IRQ conflict

6. Perhaps the CMOS battery on the motherboard is going bad and needs to be replaced. Check it to be sure.
Also check your pc clock's time and daye, to be sure it is set correctly.

7. Hard drive could be failing.

8 Right click desktop/properties/screen saver/Power/Hibernate tab ,and make sure hibernation is not enabled, and clean out your [L=Cache & Cookies & Temporary Internet Files and Folder:

9. Make sure you have updated all programs and hadrdware.

10. Motherboard short (loose screw, misplaced mounting standoff , etc.).

Can you remember what was the last thing you did, and what was the last thing you installed before this started happening?
If I knew how I know everything that I know, then there wouldn't be enough room in my head to know everything, that I know.
