The Cheltenham Animal Sanctuary

The owner of one of Gloucestershire’s animal rescue centres says an increase in the number of dogs abandoned over Christmas means it is now full.

The Cheltenham Animal Sanctuary, which blames the economic downturn for owners ditching their pets, says it is one of many in the area struggling to cope.

Manager Victor Nairn says he now has to operate a waiting list.

“Most of the other centres around here are full as well,” he added.

What a disgraceful blot on Gloucestershire.
