Don’t forget that SoftData Internet are full nominet members and can register your domain and host your web site. Again, local companies recieve many extra benefits.
It is a great shame, but the web site of our local newspaper, The Citizen is just about unusable. The comments are often batant trollism with arguments, bullying and quite disgusting personal comments. Those that do get banned simply register with another user name. It is impossible to sort for local news. I try clicking on Gloucester news and every day find it full of Cheltenham Tewkesbury and Forest of Dean Stories.
What a shame. We do need local papers.
Many of you will Remember John Tocknel who created the Old Gloucester web site showing photos of the Glorious past of Gloucester city. Sadly John is no longer with us, but I did promise to retain his site which I have done. This week I’m updating the site, giving it a modern style sheet, and I’m part way through and should finish this weekend. At that point I’ll start adding photos from my own archives, showing the Knight family and the Heath ( freemen of Gloucester ) who are all related to me.
If you have any photos that you would like to add to this site then please send them in. If you would like to use any of the photos, please ask, don’t just take them.
Don’t forget that this weekend we have the amazing Gloucester Tall ships festival, and as usual we are offering somw great prizes for the best photos taken over the weekend. Click here to see the contest
It is a fantastic event and there is something for everyone, so get your self down to Gloucester Docks this weekend.
The Gloucester Tall ships Festival will be held on August Bank Holiday, Friday 26th – Sunday 28th. This festival has always been well worth attending with wonderful sailing ships cruising into Gloucester docks.
As usual we are holding a photo contest for the event. You can see more details of the contest and prizes here
Visit Gloucestershire is, not surprisingly a site all about the beautiful English county of Gloucestershire. The website contains bulletin boards where you can safely chat with others on local issues, a directory of Gloucestershire websites listing over 8000 local websites , Photos of Gloucester past, and a whole lot more including Alan’s Gloucestershire Transport history site. It is run by Gloucestershire people, for Gloucestershire people.
We even have boards that allow local businesses to post about their service, and a best of board for you to review anything gloucestershire
Enjoy the site, and why not join our boards and take part in local discussions.
