Cookies on Visit Gloucestershire

Some of you may have heard of the new law governing the use of cookies on web sites. Cookies are pieces of personal data stored when users browse the web, sometimes to power advertising, or to remember your log in credentials.

Westgate St Gloucester

On Visit Gloucestershire we only use cookies on our bulletin boards ( they will not work properly without them ) and for our google ads which pay for all the free content here. We don’t allow anything that would track you, and we don’t allow other sites advertising to gather information about you.

Like the majority of sites we are late in implementing the legal requirement, but we will be fully compliant within the next 2 weeks. Last week the UK government admitted that most of its sites would not comply with the new rules in time. It said it was “working to achieve compliance at the earliest possible date”.

If you are a customer of SoftData Internet Ltd web hosting we will be offering you a complimentary script for your site to make sure that you are fully legal. Do Contact Us if you have any questions about this.

A real Hero of Gloucester

Ivan Taylor as usual keeping Gloucester looking goodIf there was ever a real “hero of Gloucester”, then that person should be Ivan Taylor, chairman of the Westgate Quarter Traders’ Association, who runs Truscot Jewellers .

Ivan can be seen every day early in the morning sweeping up, not only in front of his own shop, but all of College Court and into Westgate Street. He is incapable of walking past any rubbish without picking it up and putting it into the nearest bin. Most of the decorations and many of the plants that are brightening up the westgate quarter were bought by Ivan, and then put up and planted by him. He is over 70 years old, but nothing seems to stop him.

Not content with running the Westgate Quarter, Ivan is also the driving force behind the four gates of Gloucester , and a great supporter of local business. If we had another dozen like him, then Gloucester would be transformed. We all owe him a great vote of thanks.

Selling englandsportal.com

Sadly I have to admit, I just don’t have time to update this site. It is a shame because there is great potential there, and it gets reasonable traffic, but I’m just too busy.

If anyone is interesting in buying England’s Portal  then please get in touch. The site includes a working directory and I’ll include a years free hosting.

The Four Gates of Gloucester

I have always been fanatical about promoting Gloucester ( I was born here in this marvelous little city ) , and I’m proud to be involved with the latest ways of promoting our city.

The 4 Gates of Gloucester is a web site and magazine that are free, self funding and not for profit.

Set up and funded by City Centre businesses to share news, features and articles about our City, around our City. An independent social enterprise organisation, Four Gates has been created by Gloucester business and people, forGloucester businesses and people.

Four-Gates-of-Gloucester

The regularly updated website and bi-monthly publication aims to build and enrich our City Centre .

It will also feature a listing for every city centre shop and business, something that is not available anywhere at all.

I’m also proud to be hosting the Believe in Gloucester website run by marketing Gloucester

Working in Gloucester

It is marvelous to be in our new offices in Westgate St Gloucester. You can feel the buzz of the city with the bustle of shoppers passing by ouir office windows, and of course it is easy to pop out for a coffee or lunch.

The new office furniture is due here on the 28th, and Tammy Lynne will be coming the week after to take photos for us.

This is Gloucestershire

It is a great shame, but the web site of our local newspaper, The Citizen is just about unusable. The comments are often batant trollism with arguments, bullying and quite disgusting personal comments. Those that do get banned simply register with another user name. It is impossible to sort for local news. I try clicking on Gloucester news and every day find it full of Cheltenham Tewkesbury and Forest of Dean Stories.

What a shame. We do need local papers.

Featured Business – Make it yours

Featured Business of the Week

We are always hearing that we should support local business, and that is something dear to my heart. I have always done my best to do just that, and now I’m going to have a regular Featured Business of the Week .

The first is up now, TammyLynn Photography
